The Troy company was founded in 2004 by a group of surgeons who wanted to split from large hospitals and provide outpatient surgery in a smaller, independent setting.

"They got together and put their blood, sweat and tears into this to provide better service and a better environment," said executive director Barry Cullen. What makes it a great place to work?  "Our patients, our surgeons, everybody who works here, is like an owner, everybody takes pride in what we do," he said. "We are all in this together. It's not a stiff bureaucratic organization."
